Emma Raducanu has brought a premature end to her 2025 season due to recent health issues.
The 22-year-old was scheduled to play in Tokyo and Hong Kong to round off her year, but she has now withdrawn from those two tournaments.
Raducanu has looked uncomfortable in her last two tournaments in China, requiring treatment during both.
In a first-round defeat to world No219 Zhu Lin earlier this week at the Ningbo Open, Raducanu took a medical timeout to have her vitals checked and then another one for attention to her lower back.
That came a week on from Raducanu having her blood pressure and temperature taken in Wuhan before retiring when 6-1 4-1 down against Ann Li.
As a result, Raducanu has opted to end her season and return home to fully recover.
It is a blow to the Briton's hopes of being seeded for the Australian Open in January. Raducanu is currently ranked 29th in the world, but now risks dropping out of the top 32.
Despite the frustration of her recent health concerns, it has been a successful season for Raducanu, who climbed back into the top 30 of the rankings for the first time in more than three years.
She reached the third round in three of the Grand Slams and lost only to elite opponents. Iga Swiatek knocked her out of the Australian Open and French Open, while Elena Rybakina proved too strong at Flushing Meadows.
The most encouraging display came at Wimbledon, where Raducanu gave world No1 Aryna Sabalenka a real scare.
Raducanu will now enjoy some time off before a pre-season training block begins at the end of the year.
Encouragingly, her partnership with Francisco Roig, Rafael Nadal's former coach, has been extended having only previously been pencilled in until the end of the year.
Roig joined the team ahead of the US Open and has committed to working with Raducanu again next season.
