Emma Kenney says Shameless co-star Emmy Rossum made her feel 'anxious' on set

Actress Emma Kenney has accused her co-star Emmy Rossum of making her feel "anxious" on the set of Shameless.

The pair played sisters in the American version of the smash-hit series, but Emma said Emmy was far from friendly towards her.

Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast Emma said: "There were times when she would try to be a good influence and then there were times where she would be blatantly giving me bad...not the best advice.

"Maybe she was struggling with her own inner problems and taking it out on other people."

Emmy is 13 years older than Emma and left Shameless in 2018 after nine seasons playing Fiona Gallagher.

Speaking about her departure Emma said: "It was weird at first, for sure, but the set became a little bit more of a positive place. I'm not gonna lie.

"I remember, pre her leaving I'd go to set some days and I'd be very anxious about having a scene with her...because if she had a bad day, she made it a bad day for everyone."

Emma also spoke about there being an element of competition among the pair, which she insists she didn't create.

"“I was nine and she was over 10 years older than me, so I’m like, ‘Why is there a weird competition here when I’m not trying to compete?’

"I don’t know if it was other people on set creating that, or if it was her creating it, but I know I wasn’t creating it,” Emma said.

The Mirror has contacted Emmy's reps for comment.

Emma, who has played Debbie Gallagher on the show since 2011 said since Emmy left Shameless the two no longer speak.

"“I have a lot of love for Emmy, I’ve known her for so long. We haven’t spoken in years… but that’s okay,” she said.

“I have a lot of love for her, and I hope that she finds her happiness.”

Emmy announced in May that she had become a mum for the first time.

After spending nine months keeping her pregnancy a secret, the 34-year-old took to social media to announce she had already welcomed a baby girl into her life.

She actress told her fans: “5.24.21. On a sunny Monday morning, at 8:13AM, we welcomed our daughter into the world.”

The news was met with a flurry of congratulations, including from her Shameless co-star.

Jeremy Allen White, who played Phillip Gallagher on the show wrote: “She’s here! Welcome little [Red heart emoji].”
