A body has been found in a forest in the search for missing Emma Faulds.

Emma Faulds, 39, from Kilmarnock, was last seen in Monkton on Sunday, April 28.

Police had been on the hunt for her body in the Galloway Forest for months after fears she had come to harm.

Officers confirmed a discovery of remains had been found between Bargrennan and Glentrool and that her family had been informed.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “On Wednesday, June 12, human remains were discovered in the Galloway Forest, Dumfries and Galloway.”

She added: “The family of Emma Faulds has been made aware of this discovery and police inquiries are ongoing.”
