Emma Faulds murder detectives confirm body found in woods is missing woman

A body found in the woods has been confirmed as missing woman Emma Faulds.

The 39 year-old, from Kilmarnock, Scotland was last seen on April 28 in South Ayrshire.

The remains were found during searches of Galloway Forest, an area of woodland in Dumfries and Galloway.

A statement from officers said: "Police Scotland can now confirm that the human remains which were discovered in the Galloway Forest area on Wednesday, June 12 2019 are that of Emma Faulds.

"Emma's family have been made aware and specialist officers are continuing to provide support to her family."

Investigators became concerned about her disappearance after she vanished and made no contact with her family, which was described as uncharacteristic.

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Fergus, from Police Scotland’s major investigations team, said she was usually in constant contact with her family and would not normally leave her West Highland terrier for an extended period of time without organising care for the dog.

Last month, a man appeared in court charged with the murder of Ms Faulds.

The 40-year-old from Ayrshire made no plea and was remanded in custody.
