Emma Faulds: Killer's alarming shopping trips after Kilmarnock woman disappeared

CCTV footage of Ross Willox buying highly suspicious items was used to snare the killer.

The 42-year-old toured shops in Ayr to buy odd items including outdoor disinfectant and waterproof trousers after Emma Faulds disappeared on Sunday, April 28, 2019.

Footage shows that the former prison officer is cool and calm in Poundstretcher, Ayr, buying multiple bottles of bleach before leaving the shop.

More video evidence collected by murder cops also shows Willox buying items in Asda in the town.

It’s believed that Emma’s body was transported to Glentrool Forest, Dumfries & Galloway on either the Monday or the Tuesday.

Alarmingly, cops found that Willox had gone shopping before his journeys to the remote location.

This, twinned with analysis of his phone, alerted cops to dig deeper into Willox's activities in the days after Emma's disappearance.

Detective Inspector Peter Crombie, who was the deputy senior investigating officer on the Emma Faulds murder case, said: “Coupled with the fact that Emma couldn’t be contacted by her family and his conduct after, [this] had made us highly suspicious of Ross Willox.

“Further work was carried out in relation to his movements prior to travelling to the Galloway Forest and he was captured in CCTV in Ayr going into various shops and he was purchasing items that were quite unusual including bottles of bleach, rubber gloves, shower curtains, tins of outdoor disinfectant, waterproof trousers – things like that.

“Circumstantially when we put all of those pieces of evidence together, it really painted a suspicious picture of Ross Willox’s movements in relation to Emma’s disappearance.”
