Emma Faulds' funeral: Family and friends pay touching tribute to 'murdered' Ayrshire woman

Family and friends of Emma Faulds have paid their respects to the Kilmarnock woman at her funeral today.

Mourners attending the New Laigh Kirk wore bright colours in tribute, while her coffin was covered in yellow sunflowers and a white lily arrangement.

As her loved ones entered the church a pianist played as her beloved Westie dog Maverick was there to meet the coffin.

In his eulogy, Reverend David Cameron said: “We give thanks for the 39 years she spent among us. The greatest gift to us all.”

He paid tribute to Emma’s “lively spirit, sense of adventure and fun”.

Maverick the westie led the coffin from the church.

Emma was last seen in the Monkton area of South Ayrshire on April 28 at 9.10pm.

On Tuesday, April 30, her concerned family report the 39-year-old from Kilmarnock missing to police.

May 1 saw worried family and friends organise a search for Emma, starting near her flat.

Police then issued an appeal for information on Emma’s whereabouts on May 2.

Four days after she vanished posters of pictures with Emma and her dog Maverick were distributed throughout Kilmarnock and the surrounding area.

Twelve days after she went missing a 39-year-old man appeared in court charged with her murder.

Ross Willox, of Monkton, South Ayrshire, was also charged with attempting to defeat the ends of justice when he appeared in private at Ayr Sheriff Court. No body had been found at the time.

Four days after Willox appeared in court, the 39-year-old from the Ayrshire town was found dead in the Galloway Forest in May after a frantic search by police .
