Emma Faulds' family experiencing 'unimaginable' heartache as cops step up bid to find her body

The family of Emma Faulds are experiencing "unimaginable" heartache as the search for the missing Kilmarnock woman continues for a third week.

Police have been searching the border between South Ayrshire and the Dumfries and Galloway in an attempt to locate the 39-year-old's body, who was last seen on Sunday April 28 in Monkton, Ayrshire.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested and charged over her disappearance.

Detectives remain interested in tracing the movements of two vehicles on the A714 Girvan to Newton Stewart - a black Mercedes car, which was seen on Monday 29 April and a black Jaguar car was sighted on Tuesday 30 April.

They believe the movements of these cars are central to the investigation and are appealing for the public’s help in trying to find out more about them.

A force helicopter is also being utilised to map out the extensive area being searched.

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Fergus, who is leading this inquiry, said: "What Emma’s family is going through is unimaginable and our priority is to find her.

"I am thankful to members of the public who have been in touch and have provided us with valuable information which has led us to explore this area.

"I believe the A714 route is key to helping us find Emma and I am appealing again to those who use this route regularly, please take time to think back and consider if you saw a Mercedes or Jaguar car on this road or parked up somewhere, or even off road."

He continued: "If you have dash cam footage, please take the time to go through and check it.

"You may not realise it but you could have captured footage of the vehicles in these locations which could provide us with vital information and assist us in finding Emma."

Detectives have set up a link for members of the public to log on and import footage from their mobile phone or dash cam.

This footage is then linked to the inquiry team, based in the incident room, who can download it to analyse and review and take the appropriate action.
