Emma Faulds' next door neighbour told a murder trial that he heard her dog Maverick, a Westie, crying on and off from the evening of Monday, April 29 until the afternoon of Tuesday, April 30, 2019 when police broke down her door and found it home alone.
William Bryden, 53, a fraud analyst, who lived in the same block of flats as Emma said that he occasionally heard muffled sounds from it, but described her as 'quiet neighbour.”
He was asked if he heard anything on Monday, April 29, 2019 and told prosecutor Paul Kearney: “Yes the dog. It was crying.”

Mr Kearney asked him: “Did you hear anyone talking to the dog or comforting it,” and he replied: “No.”
When asked how often he heard the dog Mr Bryden said: “Throughout the evening a few times and then during the night. It was just every now and then and just for a few minutes. It woke me up a couple of times.”
Mr Bryden told the jury he had not heard the dog crying on Monday morning and had then left the flat, returning in the evening.
Ross Willox, 41, is on trial at the High Court in Glasgow and is accused of murdering Emma at his home in Fairfield Park, Monkton on April 28, 2019.
Willox denies the charges against him.
The trial before judge Lord Mulholland continues.
