Emirates cabin crew jobs up for grabs at open day near Bristol

If you've ever fancied getting paid to jet around the globe then we've got some good news.

Airline Emirates is recruiting and is hosting an open day near Bristol to give aspiring cabin crew members the chance to impress.

But anyone hoping to bag one of the high-flying positions needs to make sure that they meet the firm's strict grooming guidelines for the event.

The open day, being held at Bath's Apex City of Bath Hotel on James Street West, Bath, starts at 9am on Friday, August 16, and anyone wanting to attend must first apply for an invitation.

Alternatively, our Fish4Jobs page  has hundreds of new job listings covering the greater Bristol area.

The firm's website shows strict rules for how hopefuls should present themselves at the event, namely:

Women:

Hair must be neatly tied in a French roll, braid, ponytail or bun, with loose strands tied up or to the side.

Face should be made up with concealer, foundation, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, blusher and lipstick, but lip gloss is forbidden.

Nails must be clean and manicured with nail varnish in red, clear or French manicure.

Clothing should be smart business attire with full-length hosiery, and skirts must be an inch below the knee, and only shoes with high heels are allowed.

Men:

Hair must be short and neatly presented with minimal hair product.

They must be clean-shaven with no make-up.

Clothing must be smart business attire.

Nails must be clean and manicured.

Shoes must be formal work shoes.

Visible tattoos are banned for both genders. There is no guidance on appearance for people who identify as a gender other than male or female.

The job advert says: "There are a few qualities which will make you stand out. Namely, you’ll be positive, confident, flexible, friendly and very keen to help others."

Further guidance on the Emirates website says candidates must be or have:

  • At least 21 years of age at the time of joining
  • Arm reach of 212 cm while standing on tiptoes
  • Minimum height of 160 cm
  • High school graduate (Grade 12)
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • No visible tattoos while you’re in Emirates cabin crew uniform (cosmetic and bandage coverings aren’t allowed)
  • Can adapt to new people, new places and new situations
  • Physically fit for this demanding role with a healthy Body Mass Index (BMI)

The advert goes on to say: "As well as the role requirements, there’s a little more that great cabin crew members offer. You should be determined to always perform well. And no doubt you’ll be able to manage a pretty demanding work schedule. Also, you’ll be culturally aware and reflect who we are – professional, empathetic, progressive, visionary and cosmopolitan.

"These are the characteristics we look for when you meet us at an assessment day, so come prepared to demonstrate these qualities individually and in the group exercises we prepare for you. Finally, in order to set a great first impression, consult our grooming guidelines when taking your photos for your application and when you come to an assessment day."

You can apply to attend the event here.
