Emirates A380 flies through blanket of fog to land on runway in 'majestic' footage

Most plane landings are typically fairly uneventful.

Not so with this Airbus A380 aircraft – which appeared to burst through a thick blanket of fog as if from nowhere when it came into land at London Gatwick airport.

The Emirates Superjumbo was flying in from Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The airline shared footage of the landing on Twitter with the caption: “Now that’s how to make a grand entrance.”

The jet can be seen coming into land past two easyJet aircraft waiting to take off.

Commentators called the sight “majestic” and “beautiful”.

The A380 is the largest passenger plane in the sky, and Emirates has the largest fleet of Superjumbos. Around half of all A380s belong to the Middle Eastern airline.

In July, Emirates launched the world’s shortest-ever A380 route, between Dubai and Muscat, Oman. The journey takes typically one hour and 15 minutes.

In February, planemaker Airbus announced it would stop making the A380 by 2021. While it is loved by passengers, it hasn’t proved to be a commercial success.
