Eminem recently plunged himself into fresh controversy with a set of lyrics referencing the 2017 terror attack in Manchester on an Ariana Grande concert.
Some of his fans, though, have taken to social media to defend the star, who's no stranger to close-to-the-bone lyrics, after a song on his album Music To Be Murdered By made reference to the attack.
22 people died during an explosion when a suicide bomber targeted a crowd at an Ariana concert.
The 47 year old raps: "I'm contemplating yelling 'bombs away' on the game/Like I'm outside of an Ariana Grande concert waiting."
The lyrics have seen Eminem, real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III, receive a furious backlash online.
Mayor of Manchester Andy Burnham had even waded into the fray, issuing a statement to BBC News that read: "This is unnecessarily hurtful and deeply disrespectful to the families and all those affected."
Many of the rapper's fans, though, are having none of it.
They've been sharing posts with the aim of reminding people that Eminem helped raise nearly £2 million for the attack victims at the time.
Back in 2017, Eminem was one of many stars to urge his fans to give generously, sharing a link to a crowd-funding page and penning: "Join me in helping Manchester victims and their families, Make a donation to @BritishRedCross and @MENnewsdesk."
One fan wrote: "Say what you want about @Eminem and his Ariana Grande line referencing the Manchester attacks, but:/1) people forget he helped the fundraiser, /2)he sure got you talking about gun violence and attacks on civilians and any (lack of) measures."
Another scolded: "...They're lyrics. He helped to raise almost 2 million for the victims of the Manchester attacks. Pretty sure he's not condoning terrorism."
A third raged: "Stop being so politically correct. Eminem is a controversial rapper that's what his legacy is and always will be he's a legend."
A fourth made the case that Eminem has actually toned down the controversial nature of his lyrics: "The 'offensive' or 'controversial' s*** that Eminem says on his newest album is NOWHERE NEAR as insane as the s*** he used to say back in the day.
"Take your tight a**** over to the Marshal Mathers LP or Slim Shady LP."
It's not the first time Eminem's referenced the attack - 2018 saw him rap the lines: "Seeing Ariana Grande sing her last song of the evening/And as the audience from the damn concert is leaving/Detonates the device strapped to his abdominal region."
Ariana hosted the One Love Concert in Manchester in aid of those affected by the attack less than two months after it took place.
