Eminem's adopted daughter says she's finally reached happy place as she marks birthday

Eminem 's adopted daughter Alaina Scott has declared she's finally reached her happy place after "a lot of work in therapy" as she celebrated her 28th birthday.

Alaina is actually the rapper's niece by birth - her mum was Dawn Scott, the twin sister of his ex-wife Kim.

She grew up close to Eminem's daughter Hailie, who is actually her cousin, and was eventually adopted by the rapper, 48.

Her mum Dawn spent years battling drug problems and died in January 2016 from an apparent heroin overdose.

Alaina has now opened up about her years of struggle in a candid post on Instagram to mark her 28th birthday this week.

She posed with a cake, a glass of bubbly, balloons and an illuminated birthday sign as she toasted her milestone.

In the caption, Alaina wrote: "There’s no denying birthdays are my favorite. Yours, mine, everyone’s - I love a good reason to celebrate.

"Turning 28 today and I can’t help but love the person I am. It wasn’t always like this and it took a lot of work in therapy to get to this point but damn does it feel good.

"Feeling really blessed and lucky to be here. Ready for everything this year has in store for me.

"THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for all the birthday wishes, y’all are the best!"

Another picture showed her spooning cake into her mouth, and she joked: "Eating cake for breakfast because anything goes on your birthday."

She also shared an Instagram video of her gorgeous cake, topped with pink roses, and a clip of her birthday dinner - a plate of pasta and a cocktail.

Alaina is believed to still live in her family 's home state of Michigan and describes her job as a mental health advocate.

Her famous adopted dad has previously referenced her in his music, calling her Lainey.

Speaking of their relationship, he told Rolling Stone in 2004: "My niece has been a part of my life ever since she was born.

"Me and Kim pretty much had her, she'd live with us wherever we was at."
