Eminem releases surprise new album Kamikaze

Eminem has released a surprise new album titled Kamikaze.

The record, co-produced by Dr Dre, consists of 13 tracks and includes a song recorded for forthcoming film Venom which stars Tom Hardy.

Its artwork was inspired by The Beastie Boys, serving as a homage to their album Licensed to III.

One of Kamikaze‘s tracks lasts for just under a minute. It’s a voicemail with his music manager Paul Rosenberg who asks Eminem: “Are you really going just to deride everybody who, you don’t like what they have to say about you or the stuff you’re working on? I don’t know if that’s really a great idea.”

Rosenberg isn’t wrong – Kamikaze is loaded with shots at other people, notably those who criticised his previous albumRevival, which was released just eight months ago. In fact, the tweet accompanying the album announcement included a middle finger emoji hinting that Eminem had a lot to get off his chest.

Charlamagne Tha God, Machine Gun Kelly, Joe Budden, Lil Yachty are among the many he skewers on his tenth record. Tyler, the Creator – an outspoken fan of Eminem’s – is also mentioned, with Eminem directing a homophobic slur at the Odd Future rapper. The use of the word has generated criticism from listeners.
