Iggy Azalea has taken to Twitter to respond to a reportedly leaked version of a new Eminem track in which he threatens the Australian rapper.
Explicit lyrics in the song Vegas include the US artist saying: “So what’s it gon’ be? Put that shit away, Iggy. You don’t wanna blow that rape whistle on me. Scream! I love it. Before I get lost with gettin’ off.”
It follows a promotional video featuring Eminem released earlier in November where, in a free-flowing, combative and confessional rap, the artist says: “I need my head banned” and mentions punching singer Lana Del Rey.
Azalea called “old men threatening young women as entertainment” a trend that she was bored with and that she was more interested in the “young women getting $ trend”.

The 24-year-old artist, who is preparing for an appearance on Sunday at the American Music Awards with Jennifer Lopez, also tweeted: “Women in music have the bigger balls anyhow we endure much more harassment and critic.”

The song comes off a new compilation album featuring Eminem, titled SHADYXV and set for release on 24 November. It also mentions Nicki Minaj in the lyrics, “If I let you run alongside the Humvee. Unless you’re Nicki, grab you by the wrist, let’s ski.”
In a recent Guardian editorial, writer Britt Julious named violent lyrics as Eminem’s calling card, saying that “for 15 years, he has used our culture’s feigned anger toward acts of misogyny, and our obsession with celebrity, as a shortcut to staying relevant”.
Previous targets of the rapper’s wrath and sexual commentary include female celebrities Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson, Amy Winehouse and Kim Kardashian.
