Now that Eminem has returned with a new album, it's time for his D12 crew to do the same. The Detroit rap group have confirmed that they are soon to start recording, with their most famous member at the helm.
"Me and the guys, we got a bond, it's special," Eminem said in a recent interview with Rap City Special. "We're gonna be back in the studio soon."
D12 were formed in 1990, uniting a dozen Motor City rappers including Eminem, Bizarre and Proof. Though the group achieved notoriety after Eminem's solo breakthrough in 1999, they were profoundly shaken by the fatal shooting of member Proof in 2006. D12 have not released an album in five years.
Bizarre hinted at the reunion in a radio appearance earlier this year. "D12 [is] doing good," he said. "We're working on it right now – [but] Marshall Mathers is coming out first with Relapse."
Eminem also commented on the death of Proof, arguing that he's living the life his friend would have wished for him. "My music would probably be the same [if Proof were still alive]," he said. "I think this is what Proof always wanted – for me to go crazy again."
