An assistant director working on the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris has died during filming in Venice.
Diego Borella, 47, collapsed in front of colleagues on the set, according to local reports.
Medics reportedly rushed to the luxury five-star Hotel Danieli around 7pm on Thursday but were unable to save Mr Borella.
It has been reported that the cast and crew were about to film the final scene for the fifth series of the smash-hit romantic comedy when tragedy struck.
Venice-based Mr Borella worked in film, visual arts and literature and was reported to have recently undertaken writing fairytales and children's stories.
The 10-day shoot for Emily in Paris was expected to wrap up on Monday, August 25.
Earlier this week, Netflix confirmed all 10 episodes of the fifth series, starring Lily Collins, will premiere on Thursday, December 18.
The fifth series is set in Italy, with main character Emily Cooper, played by Collins, working for Agence Grateau in Rome, as she settles in another romantic European city after moving from Chicago to Paris in the first series.
Promotional pictures released by Netflix show Collins’ character looking glamorous in a boat on a Venetian canal.
Show creator Darren Star previously said of the upcoming series: “This season is a tale of two cities. Rome and Paris.
“Straddling both, Emily takes love and life to the next level.”
He added: “From Parisian rooftops to Roman ruins, we can’t wait to share where Emily’s next chapter takes us.”
