Emily Atack to star in CBBC show filming in Belfast this month

Filming for a hit CBBC show is set to start filming in Belfast this month, bringing a host of high-profile stars to the city.

Inbetweeners and I’m a Celebrity star Emily Atack and singer Michelle Gayle are among the cast of CBBC show Almost Never.

The comedy-drama follows boyband The Wonderland and rival girl group Girls Here First as they try to make it whilst juggling friends, family, school and relationships.

The second season of the hit show will start filming in Belfast from August 12 and is expected to wrap up on November 15.

Co-creator and executive producer of the series Jeremy Salsby from Saltbeef TV said: “I’m really excited to be coming back to Belfast, where I filmed years ago with Patrick Kielty, and to carry on the adventures of our exciting young cast as they try to make it in the music industry.”

Emily Atack, 29, stars as Meg, mum to Oakley and Harry from The Wonderland, while Michelle Gayle plays the role of Coleen, a record company manager.

The first season of the show, which was filmed in Wales, also featured star turns from Tess Daly and Fleur East.

Fans of the show can expect more A list appearances for series two, which is due to air in the autumn, with cameos from three high-profile stars on the cards.

A new soundtrack will be included in the 13 episodes for series two, including a Christmas special.

One of the stars of the first season, Mya-Lecia Naylor, tragically died earlier this year aged just 16.

The actress had first appeared on screen as a toddler in Absolutely Fabulous as Saffy’s daughter Jane.

At the time of her death the BBC paid tribute to her “huge talent.”

Season one of Almost Never featured covers of hits including Moves Like Jagger, Young Blood and Stitches, as well as original tracks.

It is available to watch on BBC iPlayer and the soundtrack for the series can be downloaded on Spotify.
