Emiliano Sala tribute: Minute's silence to be held before Champions League and Europa League games this week

All Champions League and Europa League matches will hold a one-minute silence before kick-off to honour Emiliano Sala, Uefa confirmed on Tuesday.

Clubs can also choose to wear black armbands as a tribute to the 28-year-old as the knockout stages of both European club competitions get underway this week.

The Argentine was travelling from Nantes to Cardiff in a light aircraft flown by pilot David Ibbotson when it lost contact with air traffic control over the Channel north of Guernsey on January 21.

Sala's body was recovered from the underwater wreckage last week, identified by his fingerprints, with a coroner's report confirming he died from "head and trunk injuries".

Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin says he urges "supporters across the continent to pay their respects to his memory over the coming days." Pilot Ibbotson is still missing.

Nantes paid a final tribute to their former striker on Sunday. There was a minute of applause before kick-off and a representative from Cardiff travelled to La Beaujoire Stadium to hand the French club a shirt from the Welsh side.
