Police fear passengers on a plane carrying new Premier League footballer Emiliano Sala which disappeared have a "slim" chance of survival if the aircraft hit water.

Cardiff City's newly-signed striker Sala was on board the light aircraft that went missing while travelling from Nantes to Cardiff on Monday.

A British coastguard rescue helicopter and crews from Alderney and Guernsey RNLI joined the search in the area around the island's lighthouse.

They searched throughout Monday but stopped after sunset and will resume operations on Tuesday morning.
