Emiliano Sala's sister reveals she will take care of the striker's dog Nala after sharing photo of it staring into the distance

Emiliano Sala’s sister has said she will look after her brother’s dog after sharing a photo of it staring into the distance and waiting for its owner.

The Cardiff City footballer had put Nala the dog into kennels in Nantes ahead of his move to Wales when his plane disappeared over the English Channel.

His sister Romina confirmed on her Instagram account that she was giving the animal a home.

She said: “Nala, your faithful companionship is now ours. (We never thought of giving her up for adoption. I will clarify this to ensure people are aware.”

It comes just days after she posted a heart breaking image of Nala waiting at the door for Mr Sala.

The caption on the image read: “Nala is waiting for you too.”

He is thought to have had a close relationship with Nala and posted several pictures of his pet on Instagram.

On Wednesday, a body was recovered from the wreckage of the plane carrying the football player.

The Piper Malibu plane carrying the footballer, 28, and pilot David Ibbotson, 59, was discovered off the coast of Alderney in the English Channel on Sunday.

It has not been confirmed whether the body is that of Sala or Mr Ibbotson.

The aircraft disappeared from radar on January 21 as it flew from Nantes to Wales.

Sala had just completed a £15m transfer to Premier League football club Cardiff City from French team Nantes.
