Emiliano Sala's mum demands answers from tragic player's Scottish agent Willie McKay

Tragic footballer Emiliano Sala’s mum has demanded answers from Scots football agent Willie McKay over her son’s tragic death.

Mercedes Taffarel wants to speak to McKay after Sala, 28, died in a plane crash in January as he travelled to Cardiff from Nantes in France.

Mercedes claims McKay, who was reported to have booked the doomed flight, has not been in touch since Sala died.

McKay’s eldest son, Mark, was one of the agents involved in Sala’s transfer from the French club to the English top-flight side.

Another of his sons, Jack, helped make arrangements for the player’s doomed trip.

Mercedes said: “We’re waiting to understand why and how Emilio died.

Willie McKay probed by cops over Cardiff City threat claims amid Emiliano Sala row

“Does the fault lie with the airport, the pilot, the intermediary?

“This man (McKay) has not spoken with me.

“I’m waiting for him to talk to me. He talked with my daughter but not
with me.

“He made the plane available. Audio messages have been broadcast and show that he offered this plane to go to Nantes.”

Mercedes has also accused Cardiff FC of disrespecting her family over the £15million transfer.

Speaking to French newspaper L’Equipe Enquete, she mentioned Cardiff’s non-payment of the transfer indemnity charge.

She added: “I demand justice for Emiliano.

“The contract was signed. I do not know why they do not want to pay. They did not take care of him. A player with a transfer cost that high.

“They did not take care of him in the way that he deserved.”

Last night, Scots-born McKay, who is based in Monaco, said he would meet with Sala’s family if asked.

He said: “I totally understand how devastated Emiliano’s mother is. She is talking about her son, after all, and I totally understand.

“I went to Argentina for his funeral, I met with some members of his family, including his sister.

“I’m happy to answer any questions his mum has.”
