Emilia Clarke reveals she ‘completely lost it’ after filming the final Game of Thrones episode

Emilia Clarke has revealed she “completely lost it” after she finished filming the final episode of Game of Thrones.

The 32-year-old actress, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on the show, told how filming season eight took a toll on her after being a part of the drama for 10 years.

She told the Daily Mail: “It's over and I cried like a baby on the last day. I felt completely lost. It was very strange and wonderful to get this. This part couldn't be more opposite, because dragons ain't funny.” [sic]

Clarke went on to add that departing the role made her feel like she “lost a limb”.

Moving on: Clarke struggled to depart from her long-term role (HBO)

Clarke said: “Ten years is a long time. It's like losing an actual limb. I was 22 – a child – when I first walked on the Game of Thrones set. I grew up with her.”

Clarke isn’t the only star from the show who struggled after filming ended as Kit Harington previously opened up on the “grief” he felt at the end of filming.

Harington told how he is “not happy but very satisfied” with the way the show has ended.

The actor, who plays Jon Snow, appeared on The Zoe Ball breakfast Show on Tuesday to discuss the ending.

He told the new host: “[I’m] maybe not happy, but very satisfied.

“I’m so excited for people to see it, I think it’s going to be extraordinary, hopefully it’ll change TV again like it did originally, and break boundaries, I think it might.”

Harington added: “It’s like when you finish a book, you’re not happy it’s over are you? You don’t finish a good book and say ‘I’m happy I finished that’.

“But you have this grief that it’s over, and it’s the exact same with nine years doing this show. No matter how it ended, or how it does end, there’s always this bit of you that’s like ‘oh’, there’s this loss around it.”

Harington’s comments come after HBO teased fans with clips ahead of the upcoming season finale.

Game of Thrones will return to screens on April 14, 2019
