Emile Smith Rowe tipped to have huge impact on Arsenal trophy push as injury return date revealed

Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe will be “like a new signing” when he returns to the Gunners’ trophy charge.

That is according to Kevin Campbell, the former Arsenal striker who has spoken glowingly of the 22-year-old’s impact for after the World Cup break.

Smith Rowe underwent groin surgery earlier in the campaign and will join the squad on the upcoming warm-weather training camp in Dubai as he targets a return to full training.

Standard Sport today revealed the start of January has been earmarked for his return to playing action - and Campbell is excited by his effect on Arsenal’s title bid.

“We’re going to need a squad, we’re going to need it stronger and we’re going to need Smith Rowe,” he told Highbury Squad.

“Listen, he’s been training, we’re going to need Smith Rowe, he’s going to be like a new signing, we’re going to need him back and to be ready to go.

“He is going to have a very prominent role to play.”
