Emile Smith Rowe tells William Saliba how to impress Mikel Arteta and get to Arsenal next season

Emile Smith Rowe has been on fire for the Gunners this season, which has earned him his first ever call-up to the England senior international side.

He has been a regular in Mikel Arteta’s team and is a major reason for the club’s change in form which sees them sit three points from second place in the league table.

And the youngster has praised the Arsenal boss for the rise in his development which eventually led to an England call-up.

Smith Rowe’s trust in the Spaniard has benefitted his career in north London, and it also a notion that William Saliba should look to follow if he is to succeed in England.

Speaking a few days before Smith Rowe’s call up, Arteta said: "I think he should be happy if people are gutted or people are questioning any decision because that tells you the level that he is playing at.

Like anything that has happened in Emile's career it will come when it is the right moment because we don't know if now is the right moment.”

The Arsenal manager would be proven right with his comments as Smith Rowe was finally handed the call by Gareth Southgate.

And this is testament to Arteta for placing his trust in the Englishman that has certainly been repaid with his performances.

Since the Spaniard put Smith Rowe on the wing, he has six goal contributions in the Premier League this season and all of those have come in the four games Arteta has put him out wide.

The club currently find themselves unbeaten in the last ten games and the 21-year-old has started in all of the Premier League matches featured in this impressive change around in form.

The trust shown by Smith Rowe for Arteta, should be followed by Saliba who has the required potential to succeed at the club.

Since signing for the club in 2019, The Frenchman has been sent out on three loan spells, with two of them coming under Arteta. which Saliba has expressed his discontent about.

He told French broadcaster RMC Sport earlier in the year: “He [Mikel Arteta] judged me on two-and-a-half matches. I would have liked for him to play me more."

However, the 21-year-old has benefitted greatly from his loan spell at Marseille this season and is starting to grow into a player who looks ready for the level of the Premier League.

He may not have been ready to feature in Arteta’s side this season, so the club’s decision to send him out on loan is paying off, as we have seen him keep a clean sheet against arguably the world’s most dangerous attack in Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

If Saliba continues to trust Arteta’s judgement and return the trust in the Gunners boss, then the Frenchman will comfortably thrive in an Arsenal shirt, similar to Emile Smith Rowe.
