Emile Smith Rowe relegates Mohamed Salah in latest EPL rankings ahead of crucial Liverpool clash

Emile Smith Rowe has been rated higher than Mohamed Salah in Sky Sports' recent power rankings release.

The Englishman features as second on the list, with Reece James topping the table by a fair margin, whilst Salah sits in third place.

Smith Rowe is one of two Arsenal players to feature in the top five of the rankings, with Aaron Ramsdale also listed following his excellent start to life in north London.

Mikel Arteta’s change in system has benefited the team, and none more so than Smith Rowe, who is putting up similar numbers to world-class players such as Salah.

The 21-year-old received his first international call-up by Gareth Southgate ahead of the November international break, where he made his first appearance and scored on his debut against San Marino.

His England breakthrough came after a magnificent string of performances under Arteta as the Spaniard changed the formation, which Smith Rowe has been thriving from.

At the start of the campaign, he was utilised in a central attacking midfield position but was unable to make an impact as he failed to score or assist a goal in the opening four Premier League matches.

Arteta used Smith Rowe as a left-winger in the north London derby against Spurs, and since then he has been one of the first names on the team sheet due to his goal output.

The Hale End star has become the fourth Arsenal player under the age of 21 to score in three straight Premier League games, with the previous three being Nicolas Anelka, Jose Antonio Reyes and Cesc Fabregas.

He has six goal contributions in the Premier League this season and all of those have come in the four matches that Arteta has put him on the left-hand side.

Smith Rowe has been pivotal in Arsenal currently going on a ten-game unbeaten run and being rated as the second most in-form player in the league is testament to that.

This will also give the Gunners a great boost going into the game against Liverpool on Saturday, knowing that a player in their side is in better form than Salah, who is currently considered one of the best players in the world.

Arsenal haven’t won at Anfield in the Premier League since 2012, so any positives going into the match need to be exploited.
