Emile Smith Rowe compares Arsenal summer transfer to Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva

Arsenal’s summer business has been swift and effective so far. Four weeks into the transfer window, the Gunners have added four new faces to try and bolster their squad going into the next campaign.

Matt Turner, Marquinhos, Fábio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus have all made the move to the Emirates, with Mikel Arteta addressing concerns over squad depth. Roughly £80million has been spent in achieving that, but the total could soon reach nine figures.

That’s because a £30million agreement has been reached with Manchester City over the signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko. The 25-year-old is versatile, offering an option at both left-back and in the midfield.

As the season approaches, fans are only weeks away from seeing their new recruits in competitive action. While the likes of Jesus and Zinchenko are known entities in the Premier League, some players are yet to show what they are all about.

One of those is Vieira, who joined from Porto in a deal that could reach up to £34million. While it remains to be seen what he is capable of, team-mate Emile Smith-Rowe has dropped an exciting comparison.

Speaking to the Evening Standard about the midfielder, he said: “He’s very similar [to Bernardo Silva]. He’s a very good passer of the ball, his left foot is very good and he likes to create goals and score them himself.

“I’ve already played against him at international level, so I can’t speak highly enough of him, and the fans should be really excited. At the Euro Under-21s, they [Portugal] beat us 2-0 and he was unbelievable in that game.”

Bernardo Silva has been a player that has excited fans of the Premier League since becoming a prominent figure in the Manchester City side. If Vieira can replicate performances to that of his compatriot, Arsenal supporters are in for an exciting ride.
