Emile Smith Rowe admits to seeking inspiration from current Man Utd star

Emile Smith Rowe admits Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes has been a player he's looked up to following his excellent start to life in England.

The Arsenal youngster has been given more opportunities recently and played a starring role in the win over Newcastle on Monday night.

Smith Rowe teamed up with Bukayo Saka to score the second of the Gunners' three goals at the Emirates.

The 20-year-old is one of the most exciting prospects at Arsenal, but he concedes he looks to the Red Devils playmaker for inspiration.

Fernandes has just won his fourth Player of the Month award as he continues to be the heartbeat for United.

And his influence has not gone unnoticed by Smith Rowe who continues to stake his case for selection.

He told Sky Sports: "I look up to Bruno Fernandes as a player. His stats are crazy.

“We enjoyed that so much, we’re coming together as a team so we’re really happy with the win and the three points.

“Everyone’s getting fit and we’re all getting together on the training pitch. Just the whole group is so much stronger and I think it’s showing on the pitch.”

Smith Rowe has been tipped for big things and appears to be on the rise at the right time.

Mesut Ozil's departure means the Englishman could fill the creative void that the German once occupied.

A move to Fenerbahce is edging closer following months out in the cold for Ozil.

But Smith-Rowe received high praise from Gary Neville who claimed he wouldn't look out of place in Arsenal's title winning sides.

He said: “He’s an Arsenal player that actually...and this is a big compliment to Arsene Wenger in how it impacted my mind as an opposition player for many years.

"The brilliant players like Robert Pires, they were so clever and intelligent.

“He could have played in old Arsenal teams the way he plays. I know he’s only played six games, yet he looks so experienced.”
