The son of Emile Heskey is set to sign a scholarship deal at Manchester City after turning 16.
Jaden Heskey has been in the club's academy for a number of years, rising through the age groups as a midfielder and has been rewarded for his progress and potential with the offer of a scholarship that commits his future to the club.
His younger brother, Reigan, joined him at the academy in 2016 when he came in at Under-9 level.
Emile enjoyed a successful professional career with clubs including Leicester and Liverpool as well as earning 62 England caps, and is currently the head of women's football at Leicester.
He congratulated his son on social media for being offered terms by City on his birthday.
Should he sign as expected, Jaden will be one of a number of talented youngsters that will form part of the core group of Under-18s next season. Under the current regime in City's academy, first-year scholars start off in the Under-18 Premier League and then are moved up to the Under-23s as and when they are required or ready to make the step up.
City Under-18s won the national title last year but are five points behind leaders Blackburn in the northern division this season after 10 games. They can cut that lead down though this weekend when they host their northwest rivals in a top-of-the-table encounter.
Two goals from Nico O'Reilly saw Ben Wilkinson's side progress to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup last week as they saw off Middlesbrough 3-0 despite a red card for centre-back Luke Mbete before Adedire Mebude completed the scoring.
