Emi Martinez posts hilarious Gabriel Martinelli picture on Instagram that Arsenal fans will love

Gabriel Martinelli's stunning rise to prominence continued on Thursday with the Brazilian scoring twice in Arsenal's 4-0 win over Standard Liege.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rested, Unai Emery named the teenager in the starting line-up to face the Belgian side at the Emirates.

The 18-year-old netted his first goal with a deft header from Kieran Tierney's cross, before curling in a second just minutes later.

His brace made it four goals from three appearances this season, with the forward having also scored twice against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup.

And speaking after the Liege match, Emery heaped praised on his young striker.

"He played in the pre-season with us and every training he showed us he's hungry to be with us and to have the opportunity to show his capacity," he said in his post match press conference.

"His patience is amazing. In pre-season he played in many positions, above all he prefers to play left winger, he also played as a right winger. I am using him as a striker because he played in that position in Brazil.

"It's not the best position for him but the first thing in his mind is to help us and to achieve, with that opportunity, some minutes with us. Really, for example, I think his performance and aptitude were amazing tonight."

Martinelli's rise has been enjoyed by both Arsenal fans - and his teammates alike, if social media is anything to go by. After the match on Thursday, goalkeeper Emi Martinez posted a mocked-up image on his Instagram story of Martinelli's face on Brazilian legend Pele's body, and tagged in the youngster.

The original image was of Pele and Jairzinho at the 1970 World Cup final after Brazil's opening goal in the 4-1 victory over Italy.
