Emi Buendia drops Arsenal transfer hint as Mikel Arteta dealt another injury blow

Here is your Arsenal morning digest on Monday, April 19.

Buendia unsure over future amid Arsenal rumours

Emi Buendia is unsure whether he will stay at Norwich City next season following their promotion to the Premier League.

Arsenal are reportedly keen on the Argentine playmaker, but when speaking to Gianluca Di Marzio, Buendia says he does not know what the future for him holds.

Buendia said: “The pandemic maybe prevented me from changing club as we’ve been talking a lot during the past summer, but it means I’m doing things in the right way.

“I could have changed club but I wanted to bring Norwich back to the Premier League. I don’t know what will happen in the next year, I follow the whole European football but I’m very keen on the Premier League."

Neville digs at Gunners in rant

Gary Neville has taken aim at the six Premier League clubs who have reportedly issued their intent to join the new European Super League.

Six teams from the top flight have apparently signed letters with a view to becoming part of the revolutionary new competition.

Arsenal, as well as Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have all discussed the proposition and if the reform is passed, then it could spell the end of domestic football as we know it.

Neville, who is clearly very against the plans, shared his thoughts on the matter whilst commentating on Sky Sports.

He said: "I'm not against the modernisation of football competitions. We have the Premier League, we have the Champions League, I don't think anyone can deny.

“But I think to bring forward proposals in the midst of Covid, in the midst of the economic crisis, is an absolute scandal.

"United and the rest of the 'big six' clubs that have signed up to it, against the rest of the Premier League, should be ashamed of themselves."

Neville added: "The European Super League - are Arsenal in that? They've just drawn with Fulham and Manchester United are drawing with Burnley.

"I can't concentrate on the game, me. They should deduct all six teams that have signed up to it. Deduct points from them all, to do it in a season is a joke. Anyway, let's move on."

Arteta provides Lacazette injury update

Mikel Arteta has revealed that Alexandre Lacazette's hamstring injury will require a scan after he limped off in Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Fulham.

The French striker hobbled off the pitch after 70 minutes and was replaced by Eddie Nketiah - who eventually equalised for the Gunners.

Arteta has admitted that the news that Lacazette could be on the sidelines for the next few weeks comes at the worst possible time.

"We don't know yet. He felt his hamstring," Arteta said after the game.

"We will have to see. He will have a scan probably on Tuesday to see the extent of the injury and the timeline to it."
