EMG Solicitors expands outside North East heartland in third office opening

North East law firm EMG Solicitors has expanded outside its heartland to open a third office in Cumbria.

The company, which has bases in Durham and Gosforth, has opened a new office in Penrith on the back of a rise in revenue. The growing firm, which specialises in court of protection, wills, trusts and probate, family, employment, residential conveyancing and commercial property services, says it has increased turnover 28% from £3.4m to £4.3m, while also recruiting 23 new staff members in the last year, taking its total workforce to 103.

Emma Gaudern, managing director of EMG Solicitors, said the opening of the new branch is testament to the firm’s continuing growth. The Penrith office will be led by Samantha Edward, alongside a team of property and family lawyers.

Ms Gaudern said: “The opening of the Penrith office marks an incredibly exciting time for EMG Solicitors as we continue to grow and expand. I’m very proud of how far the business has come since our first office opened in Durham 2014, shortly followed by our Newcastle office in 2019 and now Penrith. We are one big family here at EMG and it’s wonderful to see it flourish.

“Our continued growth however really is testament to the talent and hard work of every individual that works here. As well as our legal expertise, we pride ourselves heavily on being a people’s business, developing strong, longstanding client relationships through the incredible teams we have across every department.

“But our growth and ambition doesn’t stop there. We are delighted to see our trainee recruitment scheme in full swing as we help shape and support the next generation of legal professionals. Our ongoing recruitment drive will also continue with a range of fantastic career opportunities available.

“The door is always open at EMG Solicitors and we remain keen to talk to any prospective colleagues who feel they could help enhance our offering and become a welcome addition to the team.”

Ms Edward, director and head of wills, trusts and probate said: “The Lake District is home to many individuals, companies and professional services providers who we are very much looking forward to working with.

“For me personally, being based in the new office also marks a return back home, to where I was born and bred, so it’s a very special moment in my career. Having a real understanding of the area and local community is also something I hope will provide added value to our clients. Both myself and the team are available for a chat anytime, so please don’t hesitate to drop us a line to find out how we can support you.”
