Reports that Arsenal have contacted Marcelino in regards to becoming the next head coach has prompted a big reaction from supporters.
A managerial vacancy has opened up at the Emirates Stadium for the second time since Arsene Wenger's exit at the end of the 2017/2018 season.
The Gunners made the decision to part company with Unai Emery last Friday - less than 24 hours after the 2-1 home loss against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.
It was also confirmed that Freddie Ljungberg will take charge of first-team matters for the foreseeable future as the club seek to appoint a permanent replacement for the Spaniard.
But who is in the running to become next Arsenal head coach?
Well, the likes of Brendan Rodgers, Mauricio Pochettino, Mikel Arteta, Nuno Espirito Santo and Max Allegri are just some of the names being linked with the vacant role.
However, a new name has reportedly entered the fray and one that might take Gunners fans by surprise.
According to Goal, the Gunners have made contact with Marcelino who led Valencia to the Europa League semi-final last season but was sacked at the beginning of the season.
In addition, the report states that the Spaniard declined an offer from Everton recently which paves the way for the north London outfit.
As expected, Arsenal fans have been reacting in their numbers on Twitter.
