Emerson speaks out over injury concerns after Chelsea star hobbles off playing for Italy

Chelsea looked like they would be suffering another injury setback after Emerson Palmieri hobbled off while playing for Italy last night.

The 25-year-old has had a superb start to the campaign for the Blues, taking over the left-back role from Marcos Alonso and being one of the key players for Frank Lampard so far.

So Lampard would no doubt have looked on in terror when Emerson was substituted after just eight minutes during their 2-1 victory over Finland.

Emerson is set to have scans today over the injury, however the player himself to take to social media to allay Chelsea fans' fears

Emerson posted: "Very important victory today guys. Unfortunately I had a small injury, but nothing serious. Let's continue like this!"

That would certainly be something that Chelsea fans, and Lampard, would be delighted to see happen.

There is still a chance that Emerson could miss the Premier League encounter at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon, with the first Champions League match at Valencia on Tuesday.

That could mean Marcos Alonso, who did not play over the international break, could get the chance to start at left-back for the first time this season.
