Emerson Royal names most vocal Tottenham player as he gives insight into dressing room

Emerson Royal has revealed Tottenham's South American contingent are the liveliest in the dressing room - along with club captain Heung-min Son.

The South Korean has stepped up as club captain this season with Ange Postecoglou's side leading the Premier League early on.

While Brazilian defender Emerson, 24, sees himself as one of the more vocal players behind the scenes at Hotspur Way, along with Cristian Romero and Rodrigo Bentancur, he names Son as the leading voice.

"Our dressing room is a little different," he told Brazil's R7. "Everyone has a personality, there are people who are more relaxed, there are people who enjoy being more playful.

"The South Americans talk louder, the English are calmer. They like silence best.

"But the most vocal is Son. I say he's a fake Korean, he acts Brazilian!

"The South Americans, Romero, Bentancur, Pedro Porro too, who is Spanish. We interact a lot, play music. Each one has their own characteristics, but we always try to bring a different bit of joy into the dressing room."

Emerson has not started a league game for Tottenham since the opening weekend but is happy to bide his time and win over Postecoglou to become first-choice right-back.

"I started the season very well, as a starter," he noted. "First game, I even scored a goal, in the draw against Brentford.

"I'm completely professional, it's healthy competition, which we enjoy. Even though I'm not always playing, I'm strong, and when the coach needs me, he can always count on me.

"I have the ambition to win back my position again and keep Tottenham at the top of the table, which I believe that this season we have a great chance of staying in the fight for the title."
