Emerson Palmieri 'being forced out of Chelsea by Frank Lampard's controlling style'

Emerson Palmieri is on the cusp of leaving Chelsea due to his annoyance with Frank Lampard’s management style, according to reports from Italy.

The left-back has struggled to put together a consistent run in the starting XI since joining from Roma in 2018 and lost his place to Marcos Alonso last month before the season was suspended.

The Brazilian-born player has only made 18 appearances this season and is frustrated with Lampard’s level of control over his players and training methods.

Emerson views the Chelsea boss as a ‘sergeant’, according to Italian outlet Tuttosport , and is keen on a move back to Italy.

Italian champions Juventus and Serie A contenders Inter Milan - both managed by former Chelsea coaches - are monitoring the situation, with Maurizio Sarri and Antonio Conte keen to work with Emerson again.

It is thought it will take a bid of €30m (£28m) for Chelsea to part ways with Emerson, who was brought to Stamford Bridge for an initial fee of €20m and still has two years left on his deal.

His agent, Luis Fernando Garcia, recently revealed that Italian giants were interested in signing his client, telling JuveNews : “We know very well about Juventus' interest but also about Inter. So far there has been no talk of a transfer with Chelsea, nor has there been any official offer.

“I believe that until May there will be no official offers from the two clubs. In the summer we will decide what to do.”

Emerson, who has made seven Italy appearances, has also been urged to return to Serie A by national team manager Roberto Mancini to stake his claim for a place in the Euros squad.

“As for the full-backs, we knew Adam Masina, although he disappeared from the radar a bit after his move to Watford,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Luca Pellegrini [Cagliari left-back on-loan from Juventus] already spent time with the senior squad and can improve.

“It would be nice if Emerson Palmieri, who hasn't played much for Chelsea, could come and play in Italy.”
