Emerging Tech Fest in Llandudno to feature global firms and technology leaders

Global businesses and tech leaders have joined the list of keynote speakers for the highly anticipated Emerging Tech Fest, to be held on January 29 at Venue Cymru, Llandudno.

Bringing together some of the most innovative technology companies from across the UK, the free event showcases the most exciting new technology such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, cyber security and virtual reality (VR).

This year, visitors to the Emerging Tech Fest can expect a dynamic marketplace of exhibitions and demonstrations, along with expert speakers and insightful panel sessions.

The festival will give attendees the opportunity to experience the most innovative, ground-breaking new technologies, and explore ways in which they can use emerging technology to enhance industries such as health, energy and manufacturing, along with professional and business support.

Keynote Speakers:

This year the Emerging Tech Fest will be hosted by TV and radio broadcaster Gareth Jones, a North Wales native who is recognised for his career in hosting science-related programmes like How To and Get Fresh, alongside his recent podcast work.

Newly announced keynote speakers include:

■ Alwen Williams - Programme Director of the North Wales Economic Ambition Board. Former Director of BT Wales, Alwen is responsible for helping drive forward the £1bn North Wales Growth Deal.

■ Peter Davies - Technical Director of Thales UK. An honorary fellow with Imperial College’s Institute for Security Science & Technology and chair of the AESIN Security Workstream, Peter is a leading expert on countering cyber attacks, targeted supply chain infiltration and cyber physical attacks and has over 30 years of verifying security systems in hardware and software.

The event is being held at Venue Cymru, Llandudno (Daily Post Wales)

■ Damien Kelly - Solution Development Manager at ENGIE, the international energy company. ENGIE is currently developing a range of innovative, long-term solar solutions to help drive the world’s changing face of renewable energy.

■ Peter Sueref - Director of Data Science at Centrica. Peter leads a team of data scientists creating the next generation of data products.

He is a member of the expert panel for the Welsh Government’s recently published Review of Digital Innovation and is also a member of the External Advisory Board for the Cardiff University Data Innovation Accelerator.

■ Alison Mason - Upstream Development Manager at pharmaceutical company Ipsen UK. Ipsen UK develops and markets medications used in oncology, neuroscience and rare diseases along with consumer healthcare products around the world
