Emerging Irish star Shane Flynn signs new contract with Leicester City

Leicester City have moved to tie down Dublin youngster Shane Flynn to a new deal.

The 19-year-old joined the Academy in July 2018 from Bray Wanderers and has made 18 appearances for the Development Squad in all competitions during the 2020/21 campaign.

"Very happy to have signed a new deal with the club! A big thank you to everyone who has helped and supported me along the way," said Flynn.

The promising full-back has enjoyed an impressive season so far, scoring the equaliser against Salford City in the EFL Trophy to take the game to penalties, which the Foxes subsequently won to progress to the third round.

Flynn’s standout performances have seen him rewarded with a place on the First Team bench against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League, while he was also part of Leicester City’s UEFA Europa League squads earlier this season.

As a schoolboy, he was also an All-Ireland champion in Gaelic football with St Benildus College.
