Mt Canobolas bushfire downgraded to watch and act

A watch and act warning is in place for a fire burning out of control on the western side of Mt Canobolas in the Central Tablelands region of New South Wales.

The Rural Fire Service said residents should only remain if they are well prepared.

The fire is currently 109 hectares in size on the western side of the mountain and is burning in a northerly direction.

The fire service has advised residents on Old Canobolas Rd, Lake Canobolas Road and Cargo Road, in the Mt Canobolas, Nashdale area to make their way towards Orange if the path is clear.

Some local roads have been closed due to the fire threat.
