Emergency warning for Jurien Bay fire downgraded

Authorities have downgraded an emergency warning for a blaze burning in and around Drovers Cave National Park, in the northern part of Jurien Bay in WA's Wheatbelt shire of Dandaragan.

The warning was for people in an area bounded by Coolimba-Eneabba Road, Indian Ocean Drive, Sandy Cape Road and the intersection of Cockleshell Gully Road and Gairdner Road in Jurien Bay.

A watch and act advice remains current for the area and people are urged to stay alert.

The Parks and Wildlife Service said the alert level for the blaze had been downgraded because the fire behaviour had decreased.

The fire was started by lighting and has burnt through more than 2,000 hectares.

Cockleshell Gully Road remains closed, along with three national parks — Drovers Cave, Stockyard Gully and Lesueur.

Dozens of Parks and Wildlife Service and volunteer firefighters are at the scene.

The fire started in Drovers Cave National Park.
