Winton grass fire contained

Fire crews have contained a 100-hectare grass fire burning at Winton, north-east of Benalla, in northern Victoria.

An emergency warning for the communities of Glenrowan West, Lurg and Winton has been downgraded to a watch and act.

The fire at Coach Road is travelling east towards properties in the Wattle Creek area but is now under control.

Residents are advised to stay close to shelter in case conditions change again suddenly.

An advice message remains current for the communities of Glenrowan West, Greta West, Winton, Glenrowan, Greta, Laceby, Lurg and Upper Lurg.
