Uber Eats offering emergency turkeys for delivery from today

Christmas plans thrown into disarray? From today Brits will be able to order an emergency turkey from Uber Eats.

The delivery app will be offering a selection of whole turkeys and turkey crowns from £10 for shoppers left without Christmas dinner essentials following the surprise Tier 4 announcements over the weekend.

Under the Tier 4 government restrictions only 'essential' retailers are allowed to open, leaving many shoppers scrambling to get last minute festive supplies.

Consumers in desperate need of a turkey, who want one delivered from Uber Eats will have to move fast. Produce will only be available to purchase through the app from Tuesday 22 December to Thursday 24 December.

The Emergency Turkeys will be available from the Robin Collective on the Uber Eats app in London during these times:

  • Thursday 22nd December – 12:00 – 18:00
  • Wednesday 23rd December – 12:00 – 18:00
  • Thursday 24th December – 12:00 – 18:00

Speaking about the roll out, Toussaint Wattinne, General Manager of Uber Eats in the UK commented: “Christmas is somewhat different this year, especially for those who suddenly find themselves in tier four without being able to see friends and family. It may be far from perfect this year, but being able to order an Emergency Turkey along with the trimmings will help people in Tier 4 make the most of Christmas at an affordable price.

We will continue to offer customers across the country the best choice of food, grocery, convenience and alcohol deliveries throughout the festive and new year periods.”

Many organised consumers have also been left scrambling for festive food supplies after many supermarket turkey orders have been cancelled due to 'technical glitches'.

Some families who pre-ordered turkeys from Waitrose, Tesco and Asda weeks ago have reported that their orders had been cancelled over the weekend, with one customer sent a box of turkey stuffing instead of an actual turkey.
