A fire has broken out close to the SEC in Glasgow .
A huge plume of black smoke is spreading above the Glasgow skyline after a storage container caught on fire this afternoon.
Firefighters are continuing to tackle the blaze close to the music venue on the River Clyde .
A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 1.39pm on Wednesday, August 21 to reports of a fire within a container at the SEC in Glasgow .
“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances top the scene and firefighters are working to extinguish the flames.”
