Emergency services search for missing campers near Walhalla

Shannon Lowden and Caleb Forbes told family members they were heading to Thomson Dam.

Police are searching for a man and woman who have not returned after setting off on a camping trip to Walhalla in Victoria last Friday.

Caleb Forbes, 22, from Kilsyth, and Shannon Lowden, 21, from Lilydale, told family members they were heading to Thomson Dam in West Gippsland.

The pair were due back on Saturday night and the family raised the alarm after Mr Forbes failed to turn up to work on Sunday.

Inspector Shane Cashman is coordinating the search and said there is a widespread effort from a number of members in the community.

"We've got police, SES, and a number of their friends and family on the ground searching local roads and camping grounds in the area," Inspector Cashman said.

"There's a chance they may have been snowed-in or bogged due to weather over the weekend.

"Anyone who has seen them or their four-wheel drive is urged to contact police."

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
