Emergency services scrambled to scene and road taped off during house fire in Oldham

A road was taped off and four fire engines were scrambled to the scene following a house fire in Oldham.

The blaze broke out in the bedroom of a property on Burnley Lane in Chadderton.

Police and paramedics were also called to the scene.

One person - who escaped from the home - was assessed for 'slight burns', a fire service spokesman said.

The spokesman confirmed the blaze broke out at about 4.25pm today (Wednesday).

Crews were on the scene for one hour and 40 minutes.

He said: "Four fire engines from Chadderton, Hollins, Heywood and Blackley fire stations were called to reports of a fire at a domestic premises on Burnley Lane, Chadderton.

"Crews arrived quickly and extinguished the fire, which involved a bedroom of a two-storey terraced property, using one hose reel, two breathing apparatus, a positive pressure ventilation fan, and a hearth kit.

" One person, who was clear of the property prior to crews’ arrival, was assessed for slight burns by colleagues from North West Ambulance Service."
