Emergency services scrambled after man hit by by car on Scots road as police lock down scene

A busy Fife road has been closed by police after a man was knocked down by a car.

Emergency services have been called to the scene on the A909 near Cowdenbeath after the alarm was raised shortly before 7pm.

Pictures from the scene show a number of blue-light vehicles in attendance with traffic queuing up near the crash site.

Police Scotland have confirmed that a man in his 40s has been struck by a car.

It is not currently known whether he has been badly injured or taken to hospital.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the collision remain ongoing.

A force spokesperson said: “Emergency services are currently in attendance on the A909 near Cowdenbeath following a crash involving a pedestrian, a man in his forties, and a car which took place around 6:50pm.

“Road closures are in place and enquiries are ongoing."

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
