Road taped off after child hit by car

Emergency services closed off a road in Failsworth after a child on a bike was hit by a car.

The crash happened on Oldham Road near the Tesco petrol station this morning (Friday). A spokesperson for Greater Manchester said officers were called to a crash between a child on a bike and a car.

The child has been taken to hospital from the scene. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing at this stage.

No arrests have been made, the spokesperson added. Oldham Road was closed off in both directions between Old Road and Sisson Street.

Traffic was diverted away from the area as emergency crews responded. The road has since been reopened.
