Emergency services rush to serious road crash in Lanarkshire street

Emergency services have rushed to a serious road crash in Uddingston.

The incident took place this earlier morning on Glasgow Road at the Redstones Hotel with the road being closed in both directions.

Officers have locked down the scene while a full accident investigation takes place. The condition of the person who was struck by the vehicle is unknown.

A short Police Scotland statement reads: "Officers are currently in attendance following a road traffic crash which happened on the B7071 Glasgow Road at Belmont Avenue, Uddingston, at around 11am on Wednesday, May 17.

“The crash involved a pedestrian and a car. Emergency services remain at the scene and the road is currently closed.”

One woman on social media stated: "I was walking that way with the dog and got turned back by police.

"He said it's not something you want to see. Hope everyone is ok."

Another added: "Bad accident down at the Redstones Hotel on the main road."
