Emergency services rush to serious car crash at Saltmarket

Emergency services have rushed to Victoria Bridge this evening following a serious car crash.

The stretch between Greendyke Street and Clyde Street is closed until further notice, Albert Bridge and Crown Street to Ballater Street are also closed.

Glasgow City Council has confirmed that emergency services are in attendance and advised drivers to avoid the area if possible.

A statement from the local authority reads: "Due to a road traffic collision, Saltmarket is currently closed between Greendyke Street and Clyde Street until further notice.

"Emergency Services are in attendance and road users should avoid this area."

A later update read: "This closure now includes Albert Bridge and Crown Street to Ballater Street. "

Drivers should follow police direction for diversions.

Police Scotland has been contacted for a comment.
