Emergency services rush to scene after truck carrying bales of hay 'set alight' on M1 at J18 Carlingford

Emergency services rushed to the scene of a dramatic truck fire on Saturday evening.

It is understood that a truck carrying hay bales ignited on the M1 in Co Louth, at J18 Carlingford at around 4:15pm.

Diversions remained in place on Saturday night after part of the motorway was closed while fire services battled the blaze.

Gardai say that nobody was injured during the incident.

In a statement, gardai said: "Gardaí and fire services are currently at an incident on the M1 Northbound at J18 Carlingford at approximately 4.15pm today 27 July 2019.

"The incident involved a truck carrying bales of hay that set alight.

"No injuries were reported .

"The lanes northbound, remain closed with diversions at junction 17 and re-entering at junction 18."
