A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called by the ambulance service at around 4pm on Tuesday 2 November to a report of a body at a property on Chelford Drive, Swinton.
"Emergency services attended and a 21-year-old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.
"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and a file has been passed to the coroner."
Neighbours reacted in shock to the scene on the usually quiet cul-de-sac, with police vans, an ambulance, and paramedic cars lining both sides of the street.
One neighbour said: "It's quite sad really, something tragic has obviously happened.
"There were a few ambulances around and police too.
"I don't really know the family but they seem nice enough, they're always polite when I see them.
"I hope everyone is doing ok, or as ok as they can be after something like that."
Another said: "I went down to the precinct to go to the pharmacy because I've got a cold and then when I came back there were police everywhere."
A third told of seeing emergency services coming in and out of the property for several hours, eventually leaving somewhere between 10-11pm.
